The Opportunity

The Clinical and Social Research (CSR) team at Turning Point investigates the medical, psychological and social factors influencing addiction and the impact of treatments. After successful trials of Cognitive Bias Modification (CBM) for alcohol use disorder, the team has received an NHMRC Partnership Grant to study CBM implementation in alcohol withdrawal services nationwide. This role plays a key part in delivering the study.

The Research Fellow will support the design, coordination and implementation of a Cognitive Bias Modification (CBM) platform and toolkit. Working with clinicians, patients and researchers, the role will ensure the platform is practical and effective in alcohol withdrawal service settings. Responsibilities include managing trial operations, contributing to research design, conducting mixed methods data collection and analysis, preparing reports and publications, developing ethics and grant applications and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve project goals.

The position requires a doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline, strong analytical skills and proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Experience in data management and statistical analysis software such as Excel, STATA or R, along with qualitative analysis tools such as NVivo, is essential. The role also calls for demonstrated stakeholder engagement capabilities and an emerging track record of quality research outputs.

This is an opportunity to apply specialist expertise to a project with the potential to shape alcohol withdrawal services nationwide and drive meaningful change in addiction treatment practice. We look forward to receiving your application.
