STS Technical Services is hiring Mechanical Technicians in Pontiac, Michigan. In this role, you will modify, test, and repair machinery and equipment under the direction of engineering staff or physical scientists. Mechanical Technicians play a critical role in helping engineers design, test, and manufacture industrial machinery, consumer products, and other equipment.
Job Responsibilities
Review and approve detail drawings or sketches for drafting room completion or to request parts fabrication by machine, sheet, or wood shops
Approve project instructions and blueprints to define test specifications, procedures, and objectives, including redesign requirements
Approve project instructions and specifications to identify, modify, and plan requirements for fabrication, assembly, and testing
Communicate changes in design, manufacturing methods, assembly, and drafting techniques to staff, and approve necessary corrections
Review and approve tool drawing designs by measuring drawing dimensions and comparing with original specifications for form and function
Supervise tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate proposals for improving equipment performance
Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and objectives, and modify or adjust equipment as needed
Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components for products such as industrial machinery, equipment, and measuring instruments

Leadership and mentoring skills to provide support and constructive performance feedback
Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings, and common computations
Strong ability to perform detailed calculations to establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications
Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology
Experience with computer applications and design software related to engineering fields
Education and Experience
Associate’s degree in engineering technology or related field required
8 to 10 years of relevant experience required
