Job Summary
Drivers operate trucks and / or vans over local and intra state roads and highways in a safe and efficient manner to deliver / transport products to customers. Drivers may also return freight pick up from vendors to RNDC facilities (back haul). Job tasks include performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks and equipment, securing loads in between deliveries using load bars, straps, and bulkheads; unloading products onto docks and transporting to customer storage using hand trucks or pallet jacks. Drivers may be responsible for on-site set up and product display.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible unloading of truck assigned, and ensuring the correct product is delivered to the correct customer, and others as requested.
- Inform fleet and warehouse manager of any issues with the order, (i.e. shorts, miss picks, damage, customer refusal and give reason for refusal)
- Aid customers when delivering items to ensure the proper placement and location within the store.
- Treat customers in a Professional manner, and with courtesy.
- Truck cab and box must be clean, and all personal items removed daily.
- Plan daily routing based on pick-ups assigned and make all scheduled and necessary calls.
- Responsible for developing an assigned route
- Perform daily walk around inspection of vehicle to maintain equipment in good operating conditions and report any problems.
- Responsible for the security and safe operation of the vehicle and other assigned equipment.
- Train new drivers on proper job functions.
- Customers are to always be treated courteously.
- Required to maintain a neat appearance and be in uniform.
- Maintain complete and accurate records.
- Verifies receipt of correct order with the customer by checking product and size against the provided invoice, obtains customer signature and payment if necessary, for goods received.
- Provide feedback to transportation management regarding updates for delivery information, service windows or route concerns.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
CDL License RequiredMinimum of 1 year of experience employed as a driver performing delivery functionsMust possess a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate valid for a minimum of one year or the ability to obtain oneMaintain a current / valid driver license from the state in which position is assignedHave no moving violations or suspensions during the past three (3) years (insurance requirement)Must be at least 21 years of age (insurance requirement)Previous computer or handheld device experienceCompetencies, Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to pass a background check and a drug test according to company policyAbility to remain calm during tense or difficult situationsAbility to act and react in a professional manner at all times with customers, co-workers, and managementPhysical Demands and Work Environment
The employee must be able to regularly apply up to 50 pounds of pressure using a variety of motions including, but not limited to, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Full-time, non-exempt positionWillingness and ability to work flexible schedules, including Saturdays and Sundays.TravelMust be able to travel as requiredThe compensation for this role is determined by the current collective bargaining agreement. The starting wage for this role is $31.50.
