What the Job is All About

This role will primarily be responsible for defining and driving new service offerings from concept to launch and implementation. This includes translating Voice of Customer (VOC) to sales, marketing, and product development, and defining strategies to increase and broaden adoption of Biolog Lab Services in our primary markets. This role will also have laboratory responsibilities, for bringing new service offerings to fruition for Biolog Lab Services and for one of our service offerings, Phenotypic Characterization. These projects require technical consultation with clients, optimization of culture conditions, data collection and interpretation as well as assembling reports. The ideal candidate has extensive technical experience in the field of microbiology, and exemplary communication and interpersonal skills to interface with every function within Biolog and with our customers. This position will report directly to the VP of Product Management.

Requirements

The Job Requirements

  • Be the ambassador for and the owner of the Biolog Lab Services strategy and roadmap; work with the leadership team to  continually refine the roadmap using market analysis and Voice of Customer.
  • Review service portfolio and identify opportunities for improvement and new services to address key market segments.
  • Work with the VP of Product Management and VP of Commercial - Lab Services to scope new projects in terms of requirements, resource needs, and timelines, and ensure that new services launch on time and support Biolog’s growth strategy.
  • Work with Sales to understand and foster relationships with key and strategic accounts and when setting up new Phenotypic Characterization service projects.
  • Ensure that relevant regulatory standards are met for launches.
  • Develop internally and externally focused training and sales materials for commercialization of new services.
  • Be prepared to roll up your sleeves in the lab and directly contribute to ensure all customer projects are complete on agreed timelines.
  • What You Offer

  • Ph.D. in Microbiology or Cell Biology or Biochemistry (with a microbial focus) is highly desired; a master’s or other degree with expertise in Microbiology or Cell Biology will be considered, however deep technical, hands-on expertise in microbiology is a must.
  • Experience with NGS sequencing and bioinformatics is highly preferred, but experience with analyzing multi-dimensional datasets is a must.
  • Experience with mass spectrometry or other proteomic analysis methods is preferred.
  • Intellectual curiosity to expand your understanding of ever-evolving technological applications and customer segments.
  • Critical analysis skills to identify key problems and solutions to make the best decisions for customers.
  • Goal-oriented attitude to support Sales in their revenue goals and support internal teams to launch new offerings on time.
  • Time management and prioritization skills to keep up with customer feedback, sales support, and internal product development.
  • Ability to distill complex concepts into practical materials for internal and external use.
  • Work well across multiple disciplines and personalities to interface with R&D, Operations, and Commercial teams, as well as customers.
  • Ability to provide input on value propositions for technical marketing materials.
  • Travel will be required for conferences and key customer interactions (~20%).
