Lead Custodian (260 Days)-(24000304)

Description

  • Leads and organizes a custodial team in the Food and Child Nutrition Services (FCNS) Maria Luna Facility. Maintains warehouse, central kitchen, LRE, offices and cubicles, auditorium, training rooms, halls, loading docks, serving and breakroom areas clean, sanitized, and free of any debris. Follow proper food sanitation practices at all times
  • Maintain a cleaning schedule that will include dusting, and / or vacuuming of floors, carpets, walls, trash cans, windows, glass, furniture, equipment and restrooms
  • Keep building and grounds, including entryways, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots neat and clean
  • Plan, coordinate, prepare work schedules, supervise custodial staff according to district custodial procedures; assist with annual evaluations and coaching
  • Supervise and assist custodial staff using proper techniques with cleaning inside / outside of building; maintain and supervise proper use of personal protective equipment
  • Provide essential training using the Dallas ISD Custodial Training Procedures for Schools and Facilities for new employees and current employees as needed
  • Monitor HVAC equipment for environmental comfort according to the established guidelines and directives
  • Ensure compliance with the Texas Hazardous Communications Act which includes : training of staff and emphasizing safety, storing, handling labeling and application of all chemicals. Maintain material safety data records for all chemicals being used at facility
  • Inspect facility daily for damage; identify and initiate maintenance work orders through SchoolDude. Perform quality control check in SchoolDude and provide status reports to Custodial Services Supervisor / Trainer
  • Inspect employee work sections daily to ensure adherence to housekeeping cleaning
  • Perform monthly inventory of supplies and ensure proper storage and usage of all custodial supplies and equipment
  • Maintain accurate records including cleaning schedules and vacation planning
  • Procure material and supplies for facility. Report all emergency situations and problems, maintenance and safety concerns to appropriate personnel; take appropriate action to ensure adherence to established guidelines and established procedures in the handling of problems and emergencies
  • Maintain good public relations and communication with coworkers, department heads and other supervisors
  • Responsible for setting alarm, securing and closing building if necessary
  • Regular attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job; must wear appropriate custodial uniform and district issued badge ID daily
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned
  • All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification; as appropriate

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 5 years' directly related custodial experience
  • Thorough knowledge of custodial equipment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Skills in managing personnel and supervising custodial building operations
  • Skills in effectively planning and organizing custodial activities
  • Skills in cleaning methods and procedures, sanitation, safety, security and building maintenance
  • Proficient in English both in written and verbal
