The Position

Field Engineer Under direction of the District Engineer, performs engineering work related to design, investigation, and construction of wastewater-related projects; inspects construction projects and may act as project manager for assigned projects.

Some examples of duties include : coordinate capital improvement projects, including design, construction, and inspections; provide technical input on system modifications for lift stations, sewer mains, and the wastewater treatment plant; prepare progress payments, change orders, and reports; design and prepare plans and specifications and cost estimates for projects on lift stations, sewer mains, and wastewater treatment plant; interpret and enforce construction plans and specifications; other related duties as assigned.

Any combination of education and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and abilities, is qualifying. Three years increasingly responsible experience, two of which under the supervision of a registered Professional Engineer or General Engineering Contractor, involving engineering, construction of industrial facilities, construction planning, and / or construction inspection for a private contractor, municipal agency, or engineering consultant involved in significant municipal engineering; and a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field (12 years of field experience in construction or engineering may be substituted for the required degree); and a valid California driver's license.
