This role is based out of our Houston, TX facility which offers many benefits including an onsite fitness center. For on-site positions, we are conveniently located in SW Houston, near intersection of South Sam Houston Parkway West and the Fort Bend Parkway.

  • Collaborating with mechanical and electrical hardware engineers to create complex, multi-layer, high density designs using SolidWorks or equivalent parametric CAD software for Draeger’s full line of fire, gas, and process safety systems.
  • Responsible for creating product BOM’s and SolidWorks / CAD Drawings to meet design requirements for customer’s Request for Quote (RFQ)
  • Ensures designs are done in accordance with applicable industry standards and company requirements / processes to deliver a high level of quality and manufacturability based on timelines defined by the project team. This includes verifying the feasibility of manufacturing and evaluating fit, form, and function of the final design.
  • Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of detailed design assembly drawings, schematics or specifications, system components, and other associated documentation for assigned projects.
  • Collaborates with design originators (e.g. electrical and mechanical hardware engineers and product architects) to resolve design details, project discrepancies, or and documentation related issues.
  • Investigates alternative approaches to assigned work to establish the best design solution that meets all specified criteria.
  • Participates in design review discussions to understand the design process.
  • Attention to detail, a high level of accuracy, self-motivating and the ability to plan and organize responsibilities.

Education :

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Preferred
  • NICET Certified – A plus but not required Additional competencies :
  • Experience with SolidWorks Computer Aided DesignoAbility to create solid models with both cuts and extrusions.oAbility to create large scale assemblies.oAbility to produce drawings from multiple angles.
  • Read and Understand Electrical Schematics
  • Basic understanding of industry codes / standards such as NFPA 72, ULA, NEC (Hazardous Locations)
  • Ability to extrapolate directions from incomplete information.
  • Experience working closely with hardware electrical and mechanical engineers to develop manufacturable and cost-effective designs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Willingness to learn about engineering change procedures and documentation processes.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and meet agreed upon schedules.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and in cross-disciplinary situations.
  • Draeger has several sites located across North America as well as field-based sales and service positions. Our North America headquarters is located in Telford, PA just north of Philadelphia. We also have US sites in Andover, MA, and Houston, TX. Our Canada site is located in Mississauga, Ontario.
