The Opportunity
OPB is seeking a Social Audience Producer who brings expertise across social media platforms as well as audience-centered digital platforms, including the website, newsletters and texting services, to help lead social strategy and deliver relevant, timely and engaging content to OPB’s audiences.
This position will create multimedia content for OPB’s digital and social platforms in a way that is authentic to each unique audience while retaining OPB’s strong brand and mission. This position will be comfortable creating video, audio, image posts and text stories for Instagram, YouTube, Threads, BlueSky, Facebook, LinkedIn and TikTok.
This position will also be a key strategic thinker for all of OPB’s social media audiences.
Position Details
This position will work with the digital, audience, content and video teams at OPB. This position would work both collaboratively with small and large teams, as well as on solo projects. This position may also create other multimedia projects such as photo and audio-based storytelling as well as assist in general digital team story producing duties depending on team needs.
This position will also inform day-to-day and long-term goals by analyzing metrics and stay up-to-date on best practices across platforms to assure that OPB leads the conversation while reaching new audiences.
The person selected for this role will keep OPB's central to their work.
Responsibilities
50% Producing and editing multimedia posts for OPB’s social media platforms
- Creating engaging social copy
- Designing image posts for Instagram, BlueSky, Facebook, and LinkedIn
- Working with video teams to design and post social videos
- Creating social videos for OPB stories using images, sound and video clips
- Updating OPB’s YouTube horizontal and vertical video text to optimize SEO
- Scheduling social posts for all OPB content natively and in Social News Desk
40% Analysis and guidance of OPB’s social media strategy
Gathering and reviewing data across all OPB social platforms to create strategic plans to optimize social media content and audience engagementWorking with the Executive Editor, Digital Programming and cross functional teams to implement new strategies across platformsAnalyzing and guiding best practices for OPB’s show and podcast social media accounts such as Think Out Loud, the Evergreen, Oregon Field Guide, Oregon Art Beat and Oregon ExperienceTrain OPB reporters, editors and producers on social media best practicesWorking with OPB’s social media producers on strategic design updates on social media accounts to evolve OPB’s look while maintaining strong brand awareness10% Assisting with other audience and digital duties including :

Four years of professional experience in social media storytelling in a news environmentAbility to quickly produce high-quality social-first graphics using tools such as CanvaProficiency in Adobe Creative SuiteAbility to think holistically across platforms and recognize social opportunities for content conceived for TV and radio, and vice versaFamiliarity with digital analytics tools (, Google Data Studio), SEO best practices, and social media platforms best practicesAbility to function in a deadline-driven environmentCommitment to high ethical standards in journalismBachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual in English and another language, preferably one spoken in communities in the Pacific Northwest (for example, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese and Russian)Experience pitching and creating vertical social videoFamiliarity with Arc XP content management systemExperience using digital audio recording and editing equipmentA voracious news consumer with knowledge of major stories and issues in the Northwest.Additional Information
