Architectural Project Manager

Phoenix, AZ | Department : Architecture | Reports to : Lead Architect

About the Role

Sustainability Engineering Group (SEG) is a multidisciplinary civil engineering and design firm with an established in-house architecture team . We are seeking an Architectural Project Manager to lead commercial and mixed-use projects from concept through construction. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside engineers, planners, and project managers while advancing SEG’s integrated approach to land development and the built environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage small to medium-sized architectural projects from design to construction administration.
  • Serve as the primary client contact, ensuring clear communication on design, budget, and schedule.
  • Direct project teams and collaborate across disciplines including engineering, planning, and permitting.
  • Oversee project budgets, proposals, contracts, and schedules.
  • Review and manage construction drawings and detailing for quality and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to zoning, ADA, building codes, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (Master’s preferred).
  • Licensure : Registered Architect in Arizona; NCARB registration preferred.
  • Experience : 10+ years in architectural project management with a focus on pruction architecture, examples include : commercial, retail, restaurant, fuel center, and mixed-use projects.
  • Technical Skills : Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD , and project management software.
  • Knowledge : Strong understanding of construction methods, entitlement processes, and building codes.
  • Soft Skills : Excellent communication, client management, and leadership abilities; able to manage multiple priorities.

    Requirements :

  • State Architecture License Required – NCARB Registration Preferred.
  • Entitlement experience highly preferred
  • Understanding modern architectural / construction means and methods; and the ability to fully detail these systems in coordination with structural, mechanical, and civil engineering
  • Proficient understanding of construction drawing / detailing of various commercial, industrial, retail, mixed use, residential, multi-family projects of a significant size
  • Ability to solve complex architectural design and construction problems to serve the client’s program and advise the senior management team of any issues that deviate from the program goals and / or that impact the project budget and timeline.
  • Strong client management and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to problem-solve independently and make decisions.
  • Knowledge of building codes, ADA accessibility guidelines, building systems, and construction technology.
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills.
  • Work well with other team members in a highly collaborative work environment.
