Must-Have Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education / experience
1–3 years of experience managing or leading technical staff (Engineering Manager, Supervisor, or Technical Team Lead)
Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical concepts with hands-on experience in test and measurement processes
Proven working knowledge of data acquisition systems and post-processing activities
Experience with ISO 17025 certified test facilities
Familiarity with regulatory codes such as UL, CSA, NEC, and NFPA
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while meeting deadlines
Skilled in reading and interpreting test requirements, mechanical / electrical drawings, and schematics
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Position Overview
As the Test Lab Engineering Manager , you will lead a team of Test Engineers and Technicians, overseeing product verification, validation activities, and regulatory compliance. You will be hands-on in testing, prototype builds, and equipment maintenance while ensuring projects and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) stay on track. This role works closely with the product development team, third-party certification bodies, and engineering leadership to ensure exceptional quality and timely delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and prioritize the daily activities of the Test Lab team to ensure timely test completion
Develop and implement test standards, best practices, and documentation processes in compliance with ISO standards
Oversee data acquisition, analysis, and reporting for validation projects
Complete accurate test reports and maintain quality records
Support R&D activities by designing experiments and providing technical feedback
Monitor and manage department KPIs ; drive continuous improvement in testing methods and outputs
Review Corrective Action Reports (CARs), support warranty evaluations, determine root causes, and design countermeasures
Coordinate engineering activities with the Director of Engineering and other managers
Provide budgetary input for testing projects and customer-specific initiatives
Travel as needed for on-site inspections and commissioning support
