Key Responsibilities
Work involves a variety of the following duties but is not all inclusive : replace broken hardware in a barracks room, working on signage, replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors, using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings, repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toiletsRepair or replace defective equipment parts and reassemble equipmentPerform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorateAssemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipmentOrder parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers, or obtain them from storeroomsPerform general cleaning of buildings or propertiesPerform other related duties as assignedEssential Skills
Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devicesAdjust functional parts of devices or control instruments- use hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straightedgesKnowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in both rough and finished carpentry in COMMERCIAL / INDUSTRIAL settings- such as applicable building and safety code requirements and methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipmentKnowledge of building architectural / structural elements - including alterations and repairsAdaptable and flexible in work situationsEstablish priorities to ensure completion of tasks in a timely mannerPRACTICES WORKPLACE SAFETY in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies - Including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
