About the Opportunity
JOB SUMMARY
The Bioengineering Department at Northeastern University is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate with strong background in optical instrumentation, prototyping and data analysis to contribute to innovative translational near-infrared spectroscopic and tomographic imaging systems and clinical applications.
The candidate will lead the design, testing and optimization of optical imaging hardware, develop data acquisition software and algorithms for data processing, as well as perform phantom and human clinical studies. This candidate is expected to co-supervise graduate students, and collaborate with clinicians and other collaborators of the lab.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate should have a PhD degree in biomedical / electrical engineering, computer science / engineering, physics, or related fields. This candidate should have a strong background in instrumentation prototyping, particularly with experience on building optical imaging systems. Experience in near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), diffuse optical tomography (DOT), fluorescence imaging and other biomedical optics research are preferred. Hands on experience with spectrometers, scientific cameras, optical fibers, optical and optomechanical components are desired. Experience in scientific programming using MATLAB / Python / C / C++ for data analysis and algorithm development will be favorably considered. Good writing and communication skills are required. The candidate is expected to be highly creative and self-motivated in research and is capable of working in a collaborative environment.
