Job Purpose
We are looking for a skilled Scientist to join our team at Weatherford. In this role, you will be responsible for tool design, tool characterization, and data analysis using machine learning techniques. The ideal candidate will have a cross-functional skillset blending data science, simulations and nuclear experimentation. Expertise in applied mathematics, mathematical modeling and signal processing is a plus.
Roles & Responsibilities
OPERATIONS
- Tool physics
- Evaluate nuclear detectors for downhole applications
- Use modeling code to design nuclear logging tools and predict tool response
- Develop logging tool characterization test plans and assist with testing and tool experimentation
- Evaluate tool response modeling using MCNP
DATA SCIENCE
Design custom tools to optimize data mining, cleaning, validation and analysis tasksAnalyze large volumes of structured and unstructured data to identify trends and patternsDevelop and apply custom data models and algorithms to data sets, ensure data accuracyAutomate processes using AI tools and programmingGENERAL
Provide technical expertise to assist the broader science communityResolve project-related problems within their area of expertiseExperience & Education
REQUIRED
Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Data Science or Physics5+ years' experience in the Oil and Gas industryStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and presentation abilitiesProficiency in managing and interpreting large datasetsKnowledge of tool physics and tool characterizationExperience with machine learning techniquesExperience with statistical and data mining techniquesPREFERRED
Experience using C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, R, SQLExperience using MCNP simulation softwareExpertise in areas such as formation evaluation, production logging and well integrity.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
