Job Description

The Personal Finance Educator delivers FLY's core financial literacy curriculum to students in schools and community-based settings. This role is central to ensuring young people gain essential knowledge, confidence, and skills to make informed financial decisions. The educator works closely with partners, site staff, and the FLY team to deliver engaging and culturally responsive instruction.

Essential Duties :

Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required.

Instruction & Curriculum Delivery :

  • Facilitate financial literacy programming aligned to FLY's curriculum
  • Customize lessons to meet student needs while maintaining fidelity to learning objectives
  • Ensure inclusive and interactive classroom environments that support diverse learners
  • Classroom & Site Engagement :

  • Collaborate with site personnel to support student participation and program logistics
  • Maintain classroom management and instructional pacing aligned to the program schedule
  • Track attendance, participation, and student progress
  • Data & Reporting :

  • Complete session summaries and student engagement logs
  • Support pre / post assessments and share key learnings with the instructional team
  • Provide feedback for program improvement and curriculum development
  • Team Collaboration :

  • Attend instructional team meetings and contribute to professional learning sessions
  • Share best practices and participate in ongoing training
  • Other Duties and Contractual Details :

  • Support outreach activities, special events, or public workshops as needed
  • Participate in curriculum reviews, feedback sessions, or pilot testing of new materials
  • Represent FLY at community events, partner meetings, or professional development sessions
  • Assist in mentoring new educators and onboarding volunteers
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects that support organizational priorities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Programming and Operations or Executive Leadership
  • Supervisory Responsibilities :

    The Personal Finance Educator has no supervisory responsibilities

    Qualifications :

    To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

    Education / Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Finance, Youth Development, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of teaching, training, or youth facilitation experience
  • Strong content knowledge in personal finance or willingness to be trained
  • Language Skills :

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with youth and adults
  • Ability to adapt to diverse environments and learning needs
  • Mathematical Skills :

  • Basic financial literacy and numeracy skills
  • Reasoning Ability :

  • Ability to adapt curriculum to meet student needs
  • Strong classroom management and problem-solving skills
  • Computer Skills :

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations :

  • None required
