The International Admissions Counselor is responsible for recruiting international students and managing Portland State University’s (PSU) relationships with agents and third-party recruitment partners. This role builds and maintains partnerships with prospective students, families, government officials, educational institutions, and advising agencies—both domestically and abroad—to advance PSU’s international enrollment goals.

Key responsibilities include :

• Overseeing international recruitment, including managing assigned territories and coordinating international travel (primarily in Asia and the Middle East) for up to 2–4 weeks annually.
• Supporting students with international academic credentials and those with Refugee / Asylee or Temporary Protected Status.
• Collaborating with the Office of International Partnerships and campus stakeholders to implement strategic initiatives and manage recruitment partnerships.
• Assisting the Domestic Admissions team with general duties, including information sessions, campus events, and occasional domestic recruitment travel.

This position requires knowledge of international admissions processes, student visa pathways, and the needs of students entering language programs. Regular evening, weekend, and overnight travel—including international trips—is required.

Work Days / Hours TBD Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.

The starting annual salary for this position will be between $59,880 and $61,748 but may be negotiated above this rate dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
