The Role

Ideally, you will display the following attributes and skills :

  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum – Science, including all strands from Years 1 to 6.
  • Ability to implement Quality Teaching Strategies and a balance of explicit teaching and inquiry learning approaches.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive pedagogy, including application of two-way science models, Aboriginal perspectives, and Care for Country principles in science teaching.
  • High level interpersonal and collaborative skills, with a demonstrated capacity to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary specialist team and alongside classroom teachers to support integrated practice.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) for student behaviour, including trauma-informed practice and inclusive strategies for neurodiverse learners.
  • Strong behaviour management toolbox and Classroom Management Strategies (CMS) training.
  • Cultural competency and responsiveness in engaging with our culturally and linguistically diverse student and family community.
  • A growth mindset and a dedication to school and student improvement
  • Enthusiasm for designing hands-on, place-based learning experiences.
  • Ability to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of science in young learners.
  • Experience in using formative assessment to drive differentiated instruction.
