PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Director of Data Science will launch and scale Pediatric Associates’ AI / ML initiatives, starting with payment integrity, risk stratification, and care gap management. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for developing, validating, and deploying models that drive measurable financial and clinical outcomes. The role oversees a team of data scientists ensuring AI solutions are production-ready, secure, compliant with HIPAA and capable of delivering measurable impact across clinical, financial, and operational domains.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead development of AI / ML models for RCM, payment integrity, risk prediction, and care gap closure.
  • Partner with clinical and operational leaders to embed models into workflows.
  • Build scalable data pipelines and production environments with engineering.
  • Establish best practices for model monitoring, validation, and ROI measurement.
  • Mentor analysts and data scientists.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees Data Science and AI functions at the enterprise level.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION :

  • PhD in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Health Informatics, or related discipline strongly preferred. Master’s degree required.
  • EXPERIENCE :

  • 3+ years of leadership experience and managing AI / ML pipelines.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in healthcare data science space.
  • Strong expertise in machine learning, NLP, and predictive analytics.
  • Experience deploying models at scale (Python, SQL, Spark, cloud ML).
  • Proven record of designing and deploying AI platforms and end-to-end ML pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with GenAI applications and large language models in production environments.
  • Strong background in healthcare analytics (claims, EHR, quality measures, population health) with knowledge of interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR).
  • Expertise with AI / ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face) and cloud platforms (Azure ML, Databricks).
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Vision to design platforms and workflows with AI at the core rather than as an add-on.
  • Deep knowledge of transformers, LLMs, and generative AI with ability to apply them to healthcare operations and clinical workflows.
  • Ability to align AI strategy with enterprise goals and secure executive buy-in.
  • Skilled at working across technical and non-technical teams to embed AI solutions.
  • Commitment to ethical AI practices, including explainability, transparency, fairness, and compliance.
  • Ability to evaluate and deploy emerging AI technologies to gain strategic advantage.
