Summary :

The Community Relations Manager is a key member of the Advancement Team at CRI, a dynamic non-profit organization providing access to the sport of rowing to the greater Boston area. Tasked with helping to build relationships within the immediate CRI community, as well as engaging alumni and managing interactions with corporate organizations visiting the boathouse for team-building events, this role helps strengthen connections across a well-established community. Reporting directly to the Director of Advancement, the Community Relations Manager helps to implement vital stewardship and engagement opportunities that support CRI’s overall philanthropic efforts.

Areas of Responsibility

Volunteer Management

working in collaboration with the Director of Advancement and others on the Advancement team to manage and enhance an active network of volunteers to support events and projects, helping to set clear expectations, enhance the overall volunteer experience, and create successful events for CRI

collaborate on volunteer guidelines and communication plans for volunteers with the Communications and Media Manager

manage all aspects of volunteer contact information and availability, including maintaining the volunteer database and all communications to community members

coordinate with other staff to ensure proper logging of volunteer hours for community requirements

Alumni Relations

working in collaboration with the Director of Advancement and other leadership roles in the organization (coaches, board members, etc.) to build a sustainable program to engage former CRI members to become active members of the community

maintain up-to-date contact and engagement information for alumni, implementing key communication plans with the Communications and Media Manager

serve as the initial point of contact for alumni at CRI, coordinating with other staff to ensure consistent communication

Community Events

working directly with the Director of Advancement to plan and execute CRI events throughout the year, including but not limited to : CRI Giving Day, Let’s Row Championships, regional and national regattas, Fall Classic Regatta, HOCR Engagement

manage and organize event briefs, coordinate vendor management, and oversee all volunteer management required for events

Corporate Rows and Events

manage inbound inquiries from Boston area organizations (corporations, financial institutions, foundations, etc.) for team building rowing events

coordinate equipment reservations and coaching assignments for events in conjunction with other facilities staff

communicate directly with all assigned CRI staff to set expectations for each client event, overseeing the introductions and ensuring client satisfaction

ensure proper documentation and contracts for booking events are processed in a timely and organized manner

act as liaison between CRI and outside event planning vendor to manage private event calendar; includes timely and clear communication to CRI staff of impending events and space allocation in the boathouse

Plus other duties as assigned

Key Qualifications

5+ years of experience in the nonprofit sector, preferably in an engagement / outward-facing role

5+ years of database management experience (Raisers Edge, GetConnected) preferred

Proficient with Google Suite

Strong communication skills

Organized with a strong attention to detail

Resourceful and adaptable, with a strong sense of accountability

Familiarity with the sport of rowing is preferred but not required
