The Registered Nurse (RN) works professionally within the legal and ethical frameworks established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, the American Nurses Association Standards for Nursing Practice, and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model. Your role as an RN is marked by leadership, effective communication, collaboration, and a commitment to quality outcomes.
This position emphasizes autonomy and accountability in nursing practice, supporting our ethos of Nursing Professional Governance. You will provide holistic care by establishing strong therapeutic relationships with patients and their families while incorporating cultural understanding into your practice. You'll communicate and collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, always respecting individual values, preferences, and needs.
Key Responsibilities :
Qualifications : Education :
Must graduate from an accredited school of nursing; a BSN is preferred. New hires must obtain current BCLS certification within one month of hire.
Experience :
Minimum of 3 years of Intensive Care experience required. All RNs are encouraged to pursue further advancement through the SPIRE clinical advancement program.
Licensure :
Must hold a valid and current nursing license in Connecticut. Clinical specialty certification is highly encouraged.
Special Skills :
All RNs should aim to advance through the SPIRE clinical advancement program.
Physical Demands :
This role requires prolonged standing, walking, and the ability to use sight, hearing, and touch. You may be exposed to infectious diseases and experience physical, mental, and emotional challenges.
Anticipate physical demands, including assisting with lifting patients ranging from 5 to 300 pounds. This role involves moderate stress and inherent risks of injury from patient care.
