Job Summary The College of Pharmacy invites applications for two part-time (0.49 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term, Faculty Research Assistant positions. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Department Head.

The Sahay Lab at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Oregon State University is developing non-viral vectors for gene therapy. Lipid based nanoparticles were pivotal for the success of mRNA vaccines. The next generation LNPs are being developed that target extrahepatic tissue. The current project aims to develop targeted nanotherapeutics for prime editing for treatment of inherited genetic diseases. This position will conduct laboratory research, maintain laboratory equipment, and participate in scholarly activities related to the research. We are an interdisciplinary team, and we support collaborations of the candidate with formulation scientists, biologists, engineers and clinicians. Dr. Gaurav Sahay is committed for the career development of his team members and growth as independent scientists. We are located at the SW Waterfront of the Robertson Life Sciences Building in Portland, OR that houses scientists from OSU, OHSU and PSU. Why OSU?   • Primer design
  • Genome editing
  • mRNA synthesis
  • PCR / Western Blot
  • Analyze and interpret data and results of experiments.
  • Drawing conclusions from data analyses.
  • Work collaboratively with undergraduates, postdocs, and graduate students in the lab and contribute to a safe, respectful, and professional work environment.
  • 10% Laboratory Maintenance :

  • Maintain lab equipment and online database of materials.
  • Oversee lab safety and maintain lab safety as deemed necessary by the principal investigator.
  • 10% Reports, Manuscript, & Proposal Preparation :

  • Maintain detailed records of data obtained in the laboratory. Prepare reports and co-author manuscripts. Aid in proposal preparation.
  • What You Will Need

  • A BS in molecular biology, cell biology, pharmacology, biomedical engineering or pharmaceutical sciences.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to a safe, respectful, and professional work environment for all individuals.
  • This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard : 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months. What We Would Like You to Have

  • Experience with molecular biology : sequencing, PCR, primer design, cell culture, transfections, transductions, Western blots, cloning, CRISPR gene editing, and flow cytometry.
  • Working Conditions / Work Schedule The work will take place on the OHSU campus both at the South Waterfront (RLSB) and Marquam Hill facilities.
