The West Fargo Park District is looking for a creative and motivated Marketing and Design Intern to join our team this Fall / Winter. This role is ideal for someone passionate about graphic design, content creation, and using their skills to make a positive impact in the community, while gaining valuable hands-on experience.

Position Overview

As a Marketing and Design Intern, you will work closely with the Marketing and Events Supervisor, Marketing Communications Specialist, and Marketing Recreation Specialist. You'll assist with marketing projects, content creation, and event support, focusing on design, social media, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing and Design :

Create visually appealing marketing materials, including digital signs, social media graphics, posters, and flyers.

Assist with the creation of videos and photos to promote events and programs.

Ensure brand consistency across all marketing materials and platforms.

Social Media and Content Creation :

Execute social media strategies by creating engaging posts, videos, and captions across Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.

Create and distribute monthly newsletters and community updates.

Capture photos at events and programs for use on social media, the website, and marketing materials.

Event Support :

Assist with event set-up, tear-down, and execution.

Design and manage event signage to enhance the participant experience.

Community Outreach and Administrative Support :

Distribute promotional materials throughout the community.

Assist with daily administrative tasks within the marketing department.

Maintain and update information centers and facility signage at Rustad and Veterans Memorial Arena, as well as other Park District locations (warming houses, splash pads, pools, etc.). Updates may include bathroom ads, hours of operation, upcoming events, and other notices.

Work Schedule

This position is 25-30 hours per week, with the possibility of working up to 35 hours. You will be required to work some evenings and weekends to capture event photos and assist with community events.

Qualifications

Education :

Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field.

Skills :

Strong communication and design skills; proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or similar tools (Canva, Microsoft Office).

Experience :

Previous experience in marketing, social media management, graphic design, or event planning is a plus but not required.

Physical Requirements :

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, in various weather conditions, including during events.

Other Requirements :

Must be available to work throughout the fall / winter season, including some nights and weekends.
