Job Description

The Financial Planning Analyst supports small- and large-scale projects and processes across the OBFP portfolio, primarily in the areas of financial planning and analysis. Additionally, the incumbent supports initiatives that cross the Office of Budget and Financial Planning and the University as a whole. Type of Recruitment Knowledge, skills and abilities Considerable knowledge of budget analysis, financial planning, or a closely related field to include forecasting and analysis pertaining to financial management and governmental accounting. Working knowledge of relational database planning, analysis and design. Some conceptual understanding of compensation and classification systems. Ability to communicate with all levels of management (including High Level administrators) and staff personnel. Demonstrated ability to understand a financial accounting system. Special licenses, registration or certification None Education or training None Level and type of experience Considerable experience in using automated / electronic financial systems. Considerable experience in budget analysis, financial planning, or a closely related field. Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification) Collaborative skills in communicating across large, complex and diverse organizational environment. Significant experience in either Budget, Finance, Higher Education, State Government, and / or equivalent business training. Experience supporting competing priorities in a high-visibility office. Experience working with diverse stakeholders. Proven critical thinking and problem-solving abilities is required. Strong verbal and written communication and presentation and reporting skills are required. Ability to build relationships and develop internal and external partnerships is required. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) is required. Experience with Power BI or similar data analysis tools is preferred. Knowledge of continuous improvement processes are preferred. Knowledge of Ellucian Banner is a plus. Knowledge of budget, financial operations, and / or financial reporting, especially in a higher education setting are a plus. Conditions of Employment Standard hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.

This position is required to complete a Statement of Personal Economic Interest upon hire in accordance with the Code of Virginia.
