Position Overview
As our Additive Manufacturing Process Engineer, you will play a critical role in further developing our metal 3D printing process including machine functionality, build quality analysis, and continuous improvement of AM build strategies. You will be responsible for AM process control, improvements, and repeatability from print through post-processing. You will provide ongoing training and support for AM technicians on how to properly set-up, teardown, and maintain all of our AM equipment. This Process Engineering role will require hands-on AM and leadership skills along with a keen eye for attention to detail.
About the Role
- Act as process owner for metal additive manufacturing
- Support the commissioning and operation of additive manufacturing equipment
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions, checklists, and safety protocols for additive manufacturing
- Responsible for establishing process flow to meet production rate and quality goals
- Track machine utilization and drive reductions in planned and unplanned downtime
- Develop and implement statistical process control into production processes to further improve reliability and reduce cost and lead time
- Optimize process parameters (laser, gas flow, thermal, powder spreading, etc.)
- Conduct post print review of hardware
- Provide AM process expertise to the Engineering team to help drive continuous improvement and successful AM build strategies.
- Train technicians to safely operate the AM equipment (set-ups, teardown, monitoring, etc.)
- Conduct root cause analysis on process deviations and defects
- Lead Continuous Process Improvement efforts to improve AM production flow
About you
BS Degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering or +4 years of experience in metal Additive ManufacturingExperience working with powder bed fusion metal printing (EOS and SLM)Hands on manufacturing experience in a production environmentExperience working in a fast-paced environmentExperience working within ISO AS9100 / ISO9000REQUIRED : Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as required to support critical milestonesREQUIRED : Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Security Clearance as required for this position. Ongoing employment is contingent upon maintaining the clearance. To obtain a SECRET Security Clearance US Citizenship is required
