Canyon Social Services is a state licensed behavioral health / outpatient facility seeking a compassionate, diligent, Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join our medical facility. You will be working in conjunction with psychiatrists and other medical professionals to implement treatment plans for patients with behavior disorders, providing them with the care, support, and supervision they require.

To be successful as a Behavioral Health Technician, you should be an excellent listener with a solid understanding of what it takes to treat and manage behavior disorders. Top candidates will also be sensitive, respectful, and personable when working with our patients.

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Adherence to all policies and procedures (company, state, and federal) while in the facility and residence
  • Provide client support services while in treatment and in residence
  • Provide direct care to clients by implementing individual treatment plans prescribed by medical professionals
  • Conduct client assessments
  • Complete and maintain required documentation accurately, appropriately and in a timely fashion. Documentation includes, but is not limited to, client service notes, medication administration records and other client file notes to be utilized by administrator and / or clinical director in relation to treatment plans
  • Maintain strict client confidentiality / HIPPA compliance
  • Coordination of, and assistance with, client activities and education
  • Communicate regularly with clinical and / or administrative staff regarding significant observations, client progress, and / or concerns
  • Create and maintain a safe, secure, comfortable, and supportive environment for clients
  • Transport clients and / or staff to and from various destinations as needed
  • Conduct client safety checks; contraband checks; and document client’s belongings upon intake
  • Ensure clients are adhering to rules while in treatment and in residence
  • Recognize and respond to clients displaying aggressive behavior, acting as a danger to themselves or others, or who are in a crisis or medical emergency.
  • Alert medical professionals to intervene in emergencies.
  • Assist with follow-up and paperwork as required on any incidents and events that may take place while in treatment and / or residence
  • Administering breathalyzer tests

Qualifications :

  • 21+ years of age
  • Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health and 1+ years experience (highly preferred)
  • Associate's degree in behavioral health and 2+ years experience (preferred)
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent and 3+ years experience
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s license (required)
  • Current CPR / First Aid Certification
  • TB Test (required w / in 1 week)
  • Pass a pre-employment background check
  • Two (2) valid forms of govt issued ID and the ability to work in the United States
  • Skills :

  • Professional experience with substance abuse treatment (highly preferred)
  • Experience working in a mental health institution or psychiatric ward (preferred)
  • Familiarity with BestNotes and EHR (preferred)
  • Be open and receptive to feedback, direction, and guidance from lead BHTs and / or supervisors
  • Identify the physical, emotional, social and cultural needs of the client and provide the necessary and appropriate support
  • Ability to treat patients with dignity and empathy.
  • Strong listening and communication skills.
  • Acute observation skills
