About the Role :

The Facility Manager of an acute care hospital is responsible for ensuring that all physical infrastructure and facilities operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with healthcare regulations. This role involves overseeing maintenance, repairs, and upgrades to medical and administrative buildings to support uninterrupted healthcare delivery. The Facility Manager collaborates closely with clinical and administrative teams to create a safe, comfortable, and functional environment for patients, staff, and visitors. They also manage vendor relationships, budgets, and emergency preparedness plans to mitigate risks and maintain operational continuity. Ultimately, this position plays a critical role in supporting the organization's mission by maintaining facilities that meet the highest standards of safety and quality care.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Engineering, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing facilities within a healthcare or social assistance environment.
  • Strong knowledge of hospital facility regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience in managing maintenance operations, vendor contracts, and budgets.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or equivalent professional certification.
  • Experience with healthcare-specific building systems such as HVAC, medical gas, and sterile processing environments.
  • Familiarity with sustainability practices and energy management in healthcare facilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of emergency preparedness and risk management in clinical settings.
  • Proficiency with facility management software and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Responsibilities :

  • Coordinate and supervise daily facility operations including maintenance, cleaning, and security services to ensure a safe and compliant environment.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for medical equipment and building systems to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
  • Manage relationships with contractors, vendors, and service providers, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of services.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies through regular inspections and audits.
  • Prepares for state surveys
  • Aligns with all OSHA regulations and guidelines for a health care facilities
  • Will manage team of housekeepers
  • Lead emergency preparedness and response planning, including fire safety drills, evacuation procedures, and disaster recovery protocols.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative leadership to plan facility upgrades and expansions that support evolving healthcare needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and regulatory compliance documentation.
  • Must be able to respond quickly after hours and / or arrange backup coverage
  • Skills :

    The Facility Manager utilizes strong organizational and leadership skills daily to coordinate multiple teams and ensure seamless facility operations. Technical skills are essential for understanding and managing complex healthcare building systems and maintenance requirements. Communication skills enable effective collaboration with clinical staff, vendors, and regulatory bodies to maintain compliance and address facility needs promptly. Additionally, problem-solving and emergency response skills are critical for addressing unexpected facility issues and ensuring continuous healthcare service delivery.
