Join N Street Village , Washington, DC’s leading community for women experiencing homelessness, as our Behavioral Health Therapist —and help us support and empower women navigating mental health challenges, substance use, and life transitions.
This dynamic role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, trauma-informed environment. One of your primary responsibilities will be conducting intake assessments for clients interested in receiving mental health services at N Street Village—ensuring every woman who walks through our doors feels seen, heard, and supported from day one.
What You'll Be Doing
Clinical & Therapeutic Services
Conduct comprehensive intake assessments for clients seeking behavioral health support
Develop individualized treatment plans based on client goals and needs
Provide individual and group therapy using evidence-based approaches
Facilitate psychoeducation and support groups that promote healing and self-empowerment
Manage a caseload of 15–20 clients across various N Street Village programs
Crisis Support
Participate in a 24 / 7 on-call rotation for crisis consultation
Provide de-escalation and emergency coordination when needed
Collaboration & Coordination
Collaborate with internal staff and external providers for holistic client care
Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews and contribute to staff development
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical records
Ensure compliance with licensing standards and program reporting requirements
What You Bring
Education & Licensure
Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field
DC licensure (LPC, LGPC, LICSW, LGSW, or equivalent)
CAC certification a plus, but not required
Experience
At least 1 year of clinical experience , ideally in trauma-informed or community-based settings
Experience working with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
Familiarity with crisis intervention and treatment planning
Core Skills
Commitment to trauma-informed, client-centered care
Strong communication and organizational abilities
Cultural humility and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations
Proficiency in clinical documentation and use of DSM-5-TR
