Systems Engineer
TEKsystems is seeking a Systems Engineer to support an industry leader in GPS / INS Engineering, munition design, analysis, integration, and testing. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the design, development, integration, and maintenance of complex defense systems. The position requires a strong background in systems engineering, a keen understanding of defense industry standards, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities include :
- Leading the design and development of defense systems, ensuring they meet stringent specifications and performance requirements
- Supporting the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost restraints
- Performing functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
- Troubleshooting and resolving system issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement solutions
- Delivering technical guidance and recommendations to the engineering team, helping them understand and drive innovation and advanced prototype concepts into automation, modeling and simulation, software architectures, and integration outcomes
- Conducting system integration and testing to verify and validate the functionality, performance, and security of defense systems
- Participating and leading the preparation, conduct, and closeout of internal and external customer reviews : SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and Stage Gate reviews
- Identifying potential risks and costs associated with system development and implementation
- Ensuring compliance with defense industry standards and regulations
Education and experience :
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or related field preferredProven experience in systems engineering within the Defense Industry, 6-10 yearsRapid development requirements development, management, and requirements configuration controlDemonstrated ability to manage and collaborate across cross-discipline teams (electrical, mechanical, software, GNC, manufacturing, operations, etc)Ability to generate block diagrams, interface control diagrams (electrical, logical, software, etc)Intermediate experience in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Visio, MS Project, and / or other applicable toolsIntegration, test, verification, and validation experience desired - Model based engineering and tools (MBSE, SysML, Cameo or equivalent)Desired - Configuration Management ExperienceExcellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skillsMust be able to verify U.S. citizenshipAbility to obtain necessary security clearanceBenefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan or program terms.
