Position Summary
The Learning Design Specialist partners with faculty, alongside the Learning Integrations team, to build and refine engaging learning experiences across online, blended, and competency-based courses. This role applies human-centered design, UX best practices, and Sinclair’s AI-informed pedagogical framework to create scalable, accessible, and personalized course elements. The LDS will collaborate closely with other eLearning teams and the Center for Teaching and Learning to pilot emerging AI tools, deliver targeted workshops and faculty trainings, and produce data-driven insights that advance teaching and learning innovation
The hourly pay rate for this position is $29.62 and has a maximum of 28 hours per week.

Principal Accountabilities The Learning Experience Designer (LDS) supports the development and delivery of Sinclair’s Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) program by improving student access, experience, and system design. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Academic Credentialing within the eLearning Division, this position plays a pivotal role in building student-centered learning environments, facilitating credit pathways, and supporting students from request to completion. Responsibilities include LMS integration, media development, AI tool implementation, and active student engagement through both individualized and cohort-based support. The LDS combines a strong technical skillset with a deep commitment to student advocacy and equity in academic credentialing. LMS Content Management
- Develop and maintain eLearn content, including courses, proficiency exams, portfolio assessments, and other student-facing content in the LMS, integrating FlexPace, PLA, and other personalized learning tools
Faculty Collaboration
Collaborate with the Innovation Lab and CTL to develop and facilitate an annual portfolio of workshops and trainings that empower faculty to integrate online teaching tools and best practices into their course experiencesQuality Assurance & UX Review
Conduct comprehensive reviews of all new or revised courses to verify adherence to UX design principles, accessibility standards (WCAG), and Sinclair’s AI-driven pedagogical modelCourse Implementation
Apply human-centered design, UX, and AI strategies during course builds and implementations to support improved teaching experiences and learner outcomesData-Informed Improvement

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with specialized coursework or experience in instructional design, UX / LXD, or online teaching and learning required OR master’s degree in higher education, instructional technology, learning experience design, student affairs or related field requiredExperience supporting or designing LMS-based learning environments requiredMinimum of two years’ experience in higher education requiredProficiency with LMS platforms (e.g., D2L Brightspace, Canvas, Blackboard) requiredStrong written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated experience facilitating workshops and trainings preferredExcellent project management, analytical, and communication skills, with a record of data-driven decision makingCommitment to equitable access, digital inclusion, and learner-centered design required
