PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, build, and perfect tooling for new products. Assist in process improvements. Occasionally repair equipment as needed.
DUTIES
Using customer samples, prints or concept drawings, design extrusion dies and calibrators for new products. Render design drawings in 3D CAD. Order tooling from machine shops. Resolve technical issues with suppliers.
Verify accuracy of new tooling upon receipt.
Using a drill press, lathe, end mill and hand tools, make necessary adaptations for tooling. Light welding and brazing will be required.
Balance the new tools to produce an acceptable sample, generating a minimum of scrap. This process should be done methodically and scientifically.
Assist with equipment set-ups and die changeovers.
Assist with die corrections and improvements.
Devise ways to improve quality and to minimize set-up time and scrap through a careful study of existing processes.
Create quotations for new parts, using your knowledge of our process capabilities.
Other duties as assigned.
