Position Overview
The Assistant Controller will oversee daily controllership operations and ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting under SAP, GAAP, and IFRS. This role includes leading close processes, optimizing systems (particularly Oracle), and maintaining strong internal controls. The ideal candidate brings deep technical accounting expertise, experience in insurance / annuities, and proven leadership in process and team management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead controllership operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including financial statements and reconciliations.
- Serve as Oracle system SME, supporting enhancements and process optimization.
- Perform reconciliations for policyholder accounts, cash, and investments.
- Oversee accounts payable, lease accounting, accruals, and capitalized costs.
- Maintain and strengthen internal control environment, policies, and SOPs.
- Partner across teams to drive accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Accounting; CPA and / or MBA preferred.7–10 years of accounting / controllership leadership experience.Strong knowledge of life insurance / annuity accounting; public accounting a plus.Proficiency in accounting systems; Oracle and Clearwater highly desirable.Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary : $180,000 – $200,000OTE (bonus / long-term incentives) : $225,000 – $250,000Hybrid Schedule : Initially 4–5 days in office; shifts to 2–3 days with tenure.Benefits : 401(k), health / dental / vision insurance, life insurance, PTO.
