Title : Fire Alarm Sales / Service Engineer

Department : Operations

Pay Status : Exempt

Reports To : Director of Operations

JOB SUMMARY

The primary responsibility for this position will be to manage local scheduling and project management operations which facilitate the maximization of resources to achieve customer satisfaction, productivity, schedule adherence and economic goals within Low Voltage Department. This position requires a strong knowledge of installations, design, and services provided by fire alarm technicians. As a fire alarm system manager, this person is expected to be self-motivated, self-managed and with the ability to lead a team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • Regularly lift and / or move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally team lift and / or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch
  • Frequently required to push / pull a ladder, ascend and / or descend ladder while holding awkward sized items.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, and balance while on installing equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinate Integrator resources, sub-contractors, and technician duties related to assigned project execution.
  • Monitor the daily progress of all assigned project activities and participate in regular (weekly) status meetings.
  • Perform critical site evaluations for strategic customers and projects
  • Perform Level 4 Technical Support / On site service (highest level of expertise in EAC)
  • Ensure all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
  • Report and escalate project issues and / or risks as needed.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Understands the importance of life safety and enforce safety procedures within the company.
  • Ability to design access control systems based on site evaluations.
  • Mentors team members on all aspects on installation related to job tasks.
  • High technical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot remote issues related to electronic access control.
  • Hire / coordinate outside labor as needed.
  • Purchase components / hardware locally for critical service work.
  • Work with various tools and power tools.
  • Expertise level knowledge of cable management, fire alarm component installation, programming fire alarm control panels, and performing inspections with local AHJ.
  • Must have the ability and knowledge to install fire alarm systems expert level.
  • Maintain and ensure that project management tools for field technicians are up to date.
  • Ensure that field technicians are providing detailed information and documenting progress within project management tools.
  • Ensure that that department licenses are up to date and that technicians are completing their CEU’s in a timely fashion.
  • Procure and maintain key licenses for DJB Systems & Integration as it relates to Fire Alarm Software and Hardware programs.
  • Requirements : JOB REQUIREMENTS

    Possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and a clean driving record.

    Must be detail-oriented and organized.

    Ability to meet deadlines.

    Strong troubleshooting skills and excellent problem solving skills.

    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external customers.

    Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Must be able to read and interpret Construction prints.

    Must be mechanically inclined and have electrical experience.

    Must be able to travel and mobilize to projects based on deadlines and current needs.

    Must be able to travel out state.

    Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

    Must adhere to all safety and housekeeping policies and guidelines.

    EDUCATION

    High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.

    Possess FAL License and ERRC Certification

    Minimum of 5 years of experience in the fire alarm or low voltage communication industry installing fields

    Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience running medium to large sized jobs in industry.
