We are seeking a skilled and experienced American Sign Language (ASL) Sign Language Interpreter to support a need at Lockheed Martin. As an ASL Interpreter, you will provide interpretation services for our deaf / hard of hearing employee(s) in a machine shop environment. The ideal candidate will be fluent in ASL and have experience working in a fast-paced industrial setting.
Responsibilities :
- Provide accurate and timely ASL interpretation for deaf and hard of hearing employees in the machine shop
- Facilitate communication between employees, supervisors, and other stakeholders
- Interpret meetings, training sessions, and other work-related activities
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the company's policies, procedures, and safety protocols
- Collaborate with others to ensure seamless communication
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards
Requirements :
National certification as an ASL Interpreter (, NIC, CI, or CT)years of experience as an ASL Interpreter in an industrial or manufacturing settingFluency in ASL and EnglishAbility to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment with exposure to machinery and equipmentStrong attention to detail and ability to concentrate for extended periodsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work a days / weekPreferred Qualifications :
Experience working in a machine shop or similar industrial environmentKnowledge of manufacturing processes and safety protocolsCertification in specialized areas, such as OSHA or industrial safetyWork Environment : The ASL Interpreter will work in a machine shop environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and equipment. The interpreter must be able to navigate the shop floor safely and effectively.
