Loading Dock Master
Currently seeking a Loading Dock Master to oversee the safety, security, maintenance, and efficiency of a loading dock. This role involves managing vendors, contractors, delivery schedules, and personnel to ensure smooth loading and unloading operations. The Loading Dock Master plays a critical role in maintaining a secure and efficient environment for all operations related to the dock area. The Loading Dock Master must perform to the highest standards and in accordance with federal, state, and local building codes, including departmental guidelines.
The base hourly rate is aligned with market data and is estimated between $24.00 to $25.00 (hourly) with the ability to achieve additional compensation through bonus. This salary range reflects base compensation for the position across all US locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and other factors including relevant education / training, experience, and internal equity.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the loading dock, including scheduling and directing delivery traffic.
- Enforce building access rules and procedures for vendors and contractors.
- Maintain a detailed log of all inbound and outbound deliveries.
- Monitor loading / unloading activities to prevent unauthorized use or unsafe practices.
- Communicate effectively with management, building security, maintenance, janitorial, client, and tenant contacts.
- Oversee trash compactor and recycling management (if applicable).
- Report safety hazards, maintenance needs, or policy violations to management.
- Coordinate with building management during special deliveries, large moves, or construction projects.
- Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of the dock area at all times.
- Ability to work well under pressure and make quick, informed decisions.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as directed.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years' experience as a full-time Loading Dock Master.High school diploma or GED is required. Trade or technical school certification / diploma is preferred.Must be able to work in a highly visible, public environment and maintain a professional attitude at all times.Familiarity with safety regulations and emergency procedures.Must be organized, a self-starter, and team player.Exceptional oral & written communication, active listening, & organizational skills.Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.Must be available to work random shifts on short notice or without.Physical Requirements & Work Environment :
Spend time sitting, standing, and walking.Spend time making repetitive motions.Push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds.Able to use his / her hands to manipulate / control tools and / or objects.Work under distracting or uncomfortable noise levels and / or temperature.Workplace Type
