Sales Manager

It is the responsibility of the Sales Manager to build business relationships with existing and potential customers, proactively driving and soliciting potential business leads obtained through calls, AI, customer visits, trade shows and meeting events. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with experience selling hotel rooms, meeting and catering event space. This individual must also exhibit a high level of professional personalized guest service that embodies the company's brand standard and core values (K.E.E.P. Kindness, Engagement, Empathy and Positivity).

Responsibilities :

  • Solicit and drive group sales revenue by actively prospecting, qualifying and closing new business opportunities in accordance with assigned region and segments including corporate, association, incentive and SMERF market segments.
  • Exceed individual and departmental quarterly booking goals which include both guestroom revenue and catered food and beverage revenue.
  • Nurture and maintain relationships with repeat business so they continue to rebook.
  • Build and maintain relationships with meeting planners, third-party agencies, and corporate clients to drive new, repeat and referral business.
  • Execute rate negotiations and pre-qualification, issue contracts and establish files, process bookings and appropriate follow-up correspondence with clients.
  • Maintain accurate, current notes and activities in Delphi.
  • Maintain frequent contact with established and prospective clients.
  • Responsible for maintaining lost business and tracking tentative and definite business by market segments.
  • Responsible for overseeing the coordination of group requirements with all operational departments within the hotel.
  • Conducts FAM tours, site inspections and represents The Golden Nugget and Las Vegas at trade / consumer shows, presentations and other functions as designated.
  • Responsible for group departure follow up, thank you letters and evaluation of suggestions to improve servicing groups.
  • Resolicits groups for future business upon departure.
  • Responsible for designing programs and promotions directed at all market segments to drive room sales with special attention to targeting soft off-peak periods.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of prospect lists to be used in soliciting future business.
  • Responsible for tracking inquiries, solicitations, sales calls, and emails on a daily basis in Delphi with the understanding that if it is not in Delphi, it does not exist.
  • Monitor current travel & tourism indicators and their impact on the Las Vegas market.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of competitors, included but not limited to reviewing sales brochures, public sales offers and inspecting the properties convention space and guest rooms to stay ahead of our competition.
  • Has complete ownership of assigned comp set hotel, to include full understanding of their features and benefits, to best sell against the hotel.
  • Shares intel monthly with Golden Nugget Sales Team.
  • Monitor convention bookings and their potential impact on Las Vegas and the Golden Nugget.
  • Respond to leads within 24 hours of receipt.
  • Maintain constant communication with internal departments to ensure the Group's expectations are exceeded.
  • Ability to travel for Sales Calls, Tradeshows and Conferences and attend local industry events.

  • Attention to detail and prompt follow up.
  • Must have a hunter mentality, to be curious and find / uncover new leads and business opportunities.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement in an ever-changing industry.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, administrative, multi-tasking, organization and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), fluent English and articulate.
  • Ability to work efficiently, independently and cohesively, consistently producing quality results.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Windows applications and knowledge of Delphi required.
  • Ability to use hotel industry sales lead systems like KNOWLAND, CVENT, etc. to deliver on potential business leads.
  • Education and / or Experiance : Bachelor's Degree in Hotel Sales / Marketing or related field preferred. Minimum of two (2) years Hotel / Travel industry sales experience. Minimum age requirement is 21.
