System Safety Engineer Sr
You will be the System Safety Engineer (SSE) Sr for the Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control team. Our team is responsible for ensuring the safety of products developed and sold to customers, with a focus on protecting the warfighter.
As the System Safety Engineer (SSE) Sr, you will be responsible for performing hazard analyses and recommending safety features to mitigate or eliminate hazards in system design, software, training, and procedures. You will work independently to develop and implement system safety programs, with a focus on supporting the Tactical Missiles Line of Business. Your responsibilities will include :
- Developing hazard analyses and safety assessments
- Analyzing and recommending safety criteria in system design and procedures
- Preparing and delivering technical presentations and documentation
- Coordinating and leading System Safety Working Group meetings
- Reviewing specifications and design changes for adverse impacts to system safety
- Participating in accident investigations and identifying corrective actions

Basic Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in an engineering disciplineExperience developing and implementing a System Safety Program IAW MIL-STD-882Developing and evaluating system safety requirementsWorking knowledge of MIL-STD-882 and its associated analysesAbility to obtain a DoD Secret security clearanceDesired Skills :
Strong written and oral communication skillsAbility to make formal presentations to large groupsFamiliarity with implementing a Software Safety Program IAW AOP-52 and DoD guidelinesExperience supporting independent government Safety Review BoardsKnowledge of Human Factors EngineeringFamiliarity with missile and launcher systemsSecret clearance with current 6-year background checkInteracts well in a team atmosphere with engineers, suppliers, program managers and customersModel-based engineering knowledgeExperience with DOORS requirements applicationCandidate should be a self-starter capable of performing tasks with little directionEffective analytical problem solving skills, the ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracyAble to learn and work with System Safety specific software toolsThis position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration. Clearance Level : Secret.
