Financial Aid Business Analyst

St. Norbert College (SNC), a nationally-ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college, invites applications for a Financial Aid Business Analyst. This position is responsible for providing technical expertise and analytical support for the Office of Financial Aid. The role's primary focus is the management and optimization of key systems, including the Ellucian Banner ERP system, SAP Business Objects reporting tools, self-service applications, and other administrative platforms operating across diverse hardware and software environments. This position plays a critical role in the analysis, maintenance, and coordination of complex business processes and systems that integrate data from multiple sources. The Analyst ensures that student information systems effectively support compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations governing financial aid application processing, awarding, disbursement, and audit controls.

Success in this role requires creative problem-solving, independent initiative, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous process improvement. The ideal candidate is highly organized, precise, and able to perform under pressure while constructively challenging existing practices to enhance outcomes.

This is an on-site position, and regular attendance on campus is required.

Specific Responsibilities :

• Evaluates business processes to identify operational needs, gather requirements, and deliver effective solutions through implementation, testing, and deployment, supporting both new and existing programs, system integrations, business intelligence initiatives, and ongoing system maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Provides financial aid counseling to students, prospective students, and families on all federal, state, and institutional aid programs.
• Configures and maintains Banner Financial Aid modules and the KnightLine portal, including the annual aid year setup; monitors Ellucian for system upgrades and patches, communicates release and updates requirements to Information Technology Services (ITS), reviews release notes, and leads the development and execution of testing plans in collaboration with ITS and end-users.
• Develops and maintains complex Business Objects reports, updates and schedules scripts for office staff, and utilizes reports to respond promptly to data requests from the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) and other campus stakeholders.
• Writes and maintains clear, comprehensive documentation of financial aid system configurations-including Banner and other core systems-covering requirements, testing procedures, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational workflows; provides end-users with release guides and summaries outlining the contents of each system update.
• Manages key financial aid programs and processes, including oversight of WI Act 284 compliance, set up and awarding of scholarships, monthly Exit Counseling, and maintenance of the Net Price Calculator. Acts as back-up for the reconciliation of state aid programs using the Access tool, reconciliation of all federal programs to include direct loans and Pell Grant, batch awarding for new and continuing students, batch aid offer letters, and Return of Title IV processing.
• Develops and maintains strong communication and collaboration with other Banner and Slate coordinators, particularly the Enrollment Management Business Systems Analyst, actively participates in cross-functional working groups and committees to address operational issues from a functional perspective, ensuring effective and accurate data integration across campus systems (e.g., Banner, Slate, StarRez) in coordination with departments such as Advancement, Admissions, Student Account Services, the Registrar, and Information Technology Services.
• Train and provide first-level support to core users and end-users on functional processes and procedures within the Banner Financial Aid module and other core systems, such as SAP Business Objects.
