Field Education Coordinator

Coordinate and carry out the field education program in the Department of Social Work Master of Social Work Program. Familiarity with graduate social work field education required. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential to this position.

Recruitment of Social Work Students for Field Placement Program, including :

  • Manage application and pre-placement processes
  • Conduct field program pre-placement meetings
  • Coordinate logistics, mailing, and communication for Agency Field Placement Day with Agency representatives
  • Manage database for student-agency placement matches
  • Advise students about field program

Orientation of students & field instructors for field education

  • Develop & present field education orientation
  • Develop & present annual field instructor orientation
  • May provide continuing education programs for field instructors
  • Recruitment and approval of field instructors and agency field placement sites :

  • Act as liaison between the department and potential placement agencies in the region
  • Establish and maintain affiliations with appropriate on- and off-campus field sites
  • Maintain communication with field instructors via written and voice contacts, and scheduled site visits
  • Establish and carry out methods for collecting required data from agencies and field instructors
  • Convene field advisory committee
  • Develop field instructor recognition programs
  • General duties :

  • Act as faculty field liaison for assigned student group (with full LMSW)
  • Attendance at scheduled department, program, and administrative meetings
  • Updating Field Instruction Manual
  • Communicate with field constituents via the online learning management system and other modes of communication
  • Collect data on program and student evaluations
  • Assist program director with compliance with Council on Social Work Education accreditation standards
  • General supervision is received from the Dean of Health & Human Services and works under the direction of the Chair, Department of Social Work. Functional supervision is exercised over Field Education Assistant.

    Minimum qualifications :

  • Master's degree in social work from a CSWE accredited program.
  • Two years of post-MSW practice experience
  • Limited licensure (or eligibility for licensure) as a social worker in the State of Michigan.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Experience and ability to positively interact with a diverse campus community.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodations.
  • Preferred qualifications :

  • Full licensure as a social worker (or eligibility for licensure) in the State of Michigan.
  • Familiarity with social work field work education
  • Administrative and program development experience.
  • Duties are generally performed inside and not exposed to adverse conditions.
