Assistant Controller

About the Role :

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Controller to join our growing construction company. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting and payroll expertise, especially in prevailing wage projects, and be ready to manage multiple accounting functions with accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities :

Manage general ledger postings and lead month-end closing processes

Prepare and analyze financial statements

Oversee payroll processing, including Prevailing Wage, Union Contracts, and Certified Payroll Reporting

Supervise accounts receivable, including cash application, adjustments, and credit management

Oversee accounts payable functions and provide backup support

Handle budgeting, commission advances, payouts, and accruals

Support payroll oversight and provide backup as needed

Collaborate with accounting teams to ensure accurate financial reporting

Qualifications :

5+ years progressive accounting and payroll experience, preferably in the construction industry

Proven experience managing accounting-related positions

Hands-on experience with Prevailing Wage projects and Certified Payroll Reporting

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required

Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and month-end closing procedures
