Job Title : Medical Collector

Location : Houston, TX (Hybrid – 3 days onsite, 2 days remote after training)

Industry : Healthcare Revenue Cycle / Medical Billing

Pay : $20 – $22.50 / hour (up to $23 / hr with strong experience)

Job Type : Contract to Hire

Benefits : This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401k.

About the Opportunity :

A leading healthcare technology and revenue cycle organization is seeking a Medical Collector to join their Value-Based Payments team. This role is focused on resolving assigned account receivables (A / R), managing collections, and ensuring accurate reimbursement. The position offers growth potential, hybrid flexibility after training, and long-term stability in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities :

  • Complete Value Based Reimbursement processes timely and accurately
  • Analyze and properly resolve assigned claims in a timely manner
  • Communicate with carriers, physician offices, patients, and management to resolve issues and confirm claims status
  • Accurately verify and update insurance benefits related to claims
  • Process required adjustments per department protocol
  • Ensure payments are posted accurately
  • File appeals as needed for proper reimbursement
  • Obtain medical records and supporting documents when required for claim payment
  • Work A / R accounts with a quota of 40 accounts per day

Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate / Bachelor’s degree a plus
  • 2–5 years of medical collections experience (cardiology strongly preferred)
  • Experience with commercial payors (BC / BS, UHC, Cigna, Aetna)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, and EOB interpretation
  • Familiarity with managed care, HMO / PPO plans, and medical terminology
  • Strong communication (written & verbal) and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Tech savvy with the ability to work across multiple systems
  • Schedule & Environment :

  • Training : M–F, 8 : 00 AM–5 : 00 PM (4–5 days per week, duration based on trainer)
  • Post-Training Hours : Flexible start times between 7 : 30 AM – 8 : 30 AM
  • Hybrid Schedule : 3 days onsite, 2 days remote (set weekly schedule)
