We are currently seeking a Director of Operations who serves as the second-in-command to the VP of Operations, leading strategic initiatives and special projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, compliance, and performance across McGill's facilities. This role does not manage plant managers directly but collaborates closely with them to identify and implement improvements in systems, processes, and cross-functional coordination.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and execute special projects focused on operational improvements, including process optimization, cost reduction, and quality enhancement.
- Partner with plant managers and other operational leaders to assess performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement standardized procedures and best practices across facilities to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Support regulatory compliance initiatives and environmental, health, and safety programs in collaboration with site leadership.
- Analyze operational data and trends to inform strategic decisions and drive continuous improvement.
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts involving intake, production, maintenance, and logistics to streamline operations.
- Serve as a liaison between the VP of Operations and plant-level leadership, ensuring alignment on strategic goals and initiatives.
- Oversee vendor and contractor relationships related to special projects and operational enhancements.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for executive leadership.
- Represent McGill in community outreach and stakeholder engagement efforts related to operational initiatives.

Strategic Project Execution - Completion of 3–5 major operational improvement projects annually, on time and within budget.Process Optimization - Achieve a 10–15% reduction in operational inefficiencies across targeted facilities.Compliance & Safety - Maintain zero regulatory violations and improve audit scores across all sites.Cross-Site Standardization - Implement unified Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across 100% of McGill facilities.Cost Management - Deliver 5–10% cost savings through vendor negotiations and process improvements.Stakeholder Engagement - Receive positive feedback from plant managers and VP of Operations on collaboration and communication effectiveness.Reporting & Insights - Deliver monthly operational dashboards and executive summaries with actionable insights.Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field; Master's degree preferred.8+ years of progressive experience in operations management, preferably in environmental services, manufacturing, or industrial sectors.Proven track record of leading cross-functional projects and driving operational improvements.Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, safety standards, and environmental policies.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.Effective communicator with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel; familiarity with Wasteworks or similar operational software is a plus.Valid Driver's License.Work Environment & Physical Demands :
Occasional travel to plant locations required.Ability to work in both office and industrial environments.Must be able to navigate plant sites and engage with field teams.
