A GIS Coordinator position is available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) in Fort Collins, Colorado. The GIS Coordinator will perform a wide variety of tasks related to administering geospatial data to support an expanding team that provides technical expertise and program support for the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Centers Sentinel System Program Office (Sentinel SPO) and coordinates with the Air Force Civil Engineer Center, and elements of the Air Force Global Strike Command.

Responsibilities will include feature class development, completing metadata, managing data in ArcGIS Online, post-processing and standardizing field-data, cartography, digital data form design, geospatial analysis, and coordination with team members and project stakeholders to meet project requirements. Responsibilities will include developing simple to complex Survey forms and Smart Forms in ArcGIS Field Maps, creating and maintaining ArcGIS Experience Builder apps, using ArcGIS Hub Premium to manage deliverables and to collaborate with project stakeholders, geodatabase design and management, document production writing, editing, formatting), creating automated workflows with Microsoft Power Automate, developing Spatial Extract, Translate, and Load (ETL) tools to automate data consolidation and standardization, administering work to junior staff, and attending stakeholder meetings. The opportunity to participate in field work and other tasks may arise. Both independent and collaborative group work will be required.

Demonstrated expertise with ArcGIS ArcGIS Pro Field Maps, Survey, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS geodatabase management is required. Additionally, the ability to work with file management systems like SharePoint and Box is expected. Experience managing natural and cultural resources data also required.

The ideal candidate for this position is a motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic who is dedicated to producing exceptional deliverables. A background in cultural or natural resource management and demonstrated experience utilizing GIS to effectively manage field survey data is required. Experience working on military lands, knowledge of natural and cultural resource regulatory policy, and experience with Department of Defense GIS data models and standards Air Force Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment [SDSFIE]; Federal Geographic Data Committees [FGDC] Content Standard for Digital Spatial Metadata [CSDGM]) are desired. This position is full-time (40 hours / week). Our office operates on a hybrid schedule that requires at least two office days per week. Limited overnight travel will be required. This position has full remote telework potential. Required Job Qualifications

  • Must be current CSU employee within the CEMML Sentinel Team
  • BS / BA in Geography, Ecology, Natural Resources Management, or a related field, PLUS at least three years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS ArcPro; including cartography and spatial analyst
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS Online, Field Maps, and Survey; including form design and field-data management
  • Experience managing complex ArcGIS geodatabases; including feature class development, relationship classes, and completion of metadata
  • Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams comprising of CEMML, Department of Defense, regulatory agency, and other consulting firms to ensure accuracy and survey data collection
  • Experience completing complex spatial ecology tasks to prepare maps depicting potential habitat for protected species
  • Experience administering natural resource and cultural data
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds and traverse uneven, steep terrain
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have a valid drivers license or the ability to obtain a drivers license by the employment start date.
  • The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the by proposed start date; CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
  • Must be able to comply with all applicable regulations to obtain a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) and public trust clearance. Furthermore, candidates are required at a minimum to complete a NACI / SF85 and successfully pass a federal background check to remain eligible for employment by CSU.
