Project Engineer Heavy Civil Construction

About the Role
We are seeking a Project Engineer to support heavy civil construction projects in Murrieta while working out of our San Diego office. This role is ideal for an ambitious individual who wants to gain hands-on experience managing infrastructure projects and supporting the delivery of high-quality work in the field and office.
As a Project Engineer you will assist the project team with planning coordination scheduling and documentation while ensuring compliance with safety cost and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Support the Project Manager and Superintendent with day-to-day project operations.
Prepare review and process RFIs submittals and change orders.
Assist in project scheduling cost tracking and production reporting.
Coordinate subcontractors suppliers and field staff to maintain workflow efficiency.
Maintain project documentation including drawings logs and reports.
Participate in project meetings with owners engineers and subcontractors.
Track and code project costs invoices and delivery tickets.
Ensure compliance with contract specifications safety requirements and company standards.
Provide technical support for layout shop drawings and design clarifications.
Assist in project close-out including as-builts O&M manuals and final documentation.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Construction Management or related field (preferred).
25 years of experience in heavy civil construction (roadway earthwork utilities bridges or similar).
Knowledge of Caltrans municipal and public works projects is a strong plus.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel Word Outlook); experience with P6 Bluebeam Procore or HCSS a plus.
Strong communication organization and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with field and office teams.
Must be able to travel to Murrieta job sites as needed.
