DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will act as a hearing level judge in adjudicating contested claims under the Workers' Compensation Act. Our team will rely you to manage a caseload of hundreds of petitions in litigation and exercise unbiased judgment, discretion, and diligence to resolve conflicts in evidence; determine credibility; and draft findings of fact, conclusions of law, and orders based thereon. Your authority, organization, and leadership skills will be essential for conducting impartial and orderly hearings, both virtually and in-person, in which all persons act with and are treated with civility. These qualities are likewise key for overseeing clerical staff in maintaining the flow of information and legal documents from and to parties and attorneys, scheduling matters, and typing and circulating decisions in a timely manner. Work also involves listening to testimony presented during hearings, conducting legal research to determine the validity of the legal positions advanced by litigants, and maintaining familiarity with medical anatomy, terminology, and procedures.
