The Atlanta Interventional Institute / Atlanta Fibroid Center, a world-renowned medical practice that specializes Interventional Radiology has an opening for a Radiology Technologist. Our Interventional Radiology specialist physicians provide a variety of procedures for our patients, prominently featuring treatment for Uterine Fibroids.

The successful candidate will be an experienced technologist with a desire to grow into a more responsible position involving not only assisting the physicians but supervising our state-of-the-art lab, including managing equipment maintenance and supply orders; work directly with vendors; work with the rest of the clinical team to provide our patients with the excellence they've come to expect from us.

Interventional Radiology Technologist ESSENTIAL DUTIES :

  • Responsible for following prescribed techniques in assisting physician in the treatment of patients while following established standards and practices as directed by the physician leader.
  • Prepares the facility in accordance with the procedural requirements; calibrates equipment; prepares medicine and materials as required.
  • Preparation of Patient for Procedure(s), explain procedure to patient and or family.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to limit exposure to patient and medical staff.
  • Recording, processing, maintaining patient treatment and data records, and preparing reports.
  • Clean and disinfect x-ray room and equipment in accordance with sterile procedures and standards.
  • Knowledge of ionic and non-ionic contrast media.
  • Record, store, retrieve and analyze data obtained during interventional procedures.
  • Understands HIPAA and patient privacy and confidentiality. Adheres to HIPAA policy and standards at all times.
  • Assists Nurse Manager and Medical Director in maintaining and stock supplies and assists in determining quantities for purchase; performs general office duties related to their role.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Demonstrates strong critical thinking skills and judgement. Anticipate change in status of patients related to the procedural events and respond immediately / appropriately.

Skills and Specifications :

  • Knowledge of radiographic equipment and its operation. Operates angiographic equipment to visualize and guide physician during procedures.
  • Employee must remain current in all policies and procedures to ensure consistent quality of knowledge and performance. Assists physician with guidewire and catheter during procedures.
  • Knowledge of processes to obtain technically diagnostic prints.
  • Sets up procedure rooms to include equipment and supplies in a sterile environment, while practicing safe techniques.
  • Possesses strong oral and written communication skills. Possesses the tact to deal effectively with others.
  • Must be able to communicate with patients and staff in a clear, professional and maintain a high standard of customer / patient service and patient relations.
  • Possesses a caring attitude for dealing with people who are ill, need help / assistance & comforting.
  • Ability and willingness to arrive 15-30 minutes early prior to clinic / patient check-in time and also ability to stay late as needed in preparation for next day.Possesses a knowledge and experience with modern office procedures and equipment and medical terminology.Possesses strong oral and written communication skills.

    Qualifications / Minimum Requirements :

  • Education : Graduate of an accredited school of radiology technology.
  • Licensing : Must possess American, Registry of Radiologic Technologist. Licensed to practice (as required) as a registered radiographer with active licenses in the state(s) in which employed (GA). Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (AART) required.
  • Training and Experience : 1 year of current experience within last three years in a comparable job classification required. Cath Lab and / or IR experience is preferable!
  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within Radiology group and lab / facility. Current (CPR) for HealthCare Workers or (BCLS) certification for HealthCare workers.
