POSITION DETAILS

Schedule : Monday through Friday (salary position)

Flexibility : Required to adjust hours as needed to meet the needs of the Neuropathology Lab

Holidays / Weekends : Possible rotating coverage

Reports To : Core Laboratory Manager

JOB SUMMARY

The Medical Laboratory Supervisor will oversee daily operations in the Neuropathology Lab, ensuring quality, compliance, and efficiency. This role includes supervising staff, managing workflow, maintaining regulatory standards, and supporting the implementation of new procedures and technologies.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required :

Education : Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related chemical, physical, or biological science

Experience :

5 years as a Medical Technologist / CLSLIA

At least 2 years in a supervisory or lead capacity

Must meet CLIA qualifications for a Technical Supervisor

Licenses and Certifications (one of the following, upon hire) :

Medical Technologist (MT / MLS ASCP)

Histotechnologist (HTL)

Histotechnician

Cytotechnologist

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise daily lab operations, including workload distribution and staff oversight

Ensure compliance with CAP, AABB, TJC, and federal / state / local regulations

Develop and implement quality control programs and technical procedures

Train, coach, and evaluate staff; manage HR functions, including hiring and performance reviews

Monitor lab performance and implement process improvements

Assist with new test implementation, equipment upgrades, and procedural changes

Perform advanced / specialized testing and confirm results as needed

Serve as a resource for technical issues and regulatory compliance

Maintain accurate documentation and ensure safety protocols are followed

Perform technologist duties during staff shortages or peak workload periods
