Position Summary

3D Digital Artist

At our company, you'll be one of the fundamental creative driving forces behind our product designs, marketing materials, and explorations into new product types. This creative role requires flexibility and a passion for innovative design. You will work in a fast-paced environment, delivering exceptional work while managing multiple projects amid changing priorities. You must be capable of transitioning between projects, collaborating effectively with various teams, and communicating professionally in all workspaces. We are looking for candidates proficient in creating digital renderings of all types, primarily focusing on organic 3D sculpting, with additional work in hard-surface, architectural, and natural design. Your role offers opportunities to master procedural modeling, metrology, design-for-manufacture, mold design, and other fields related to digital artistry and bringing fantasies to life.

Our ideal candidate will excel at organic modeling, have a broad portfolio of natural anatomy studies, and have completed 3D work to showcase their skills. They should demonstrate flexibility and iterative design skills through their previous work. We seek effective multitaskers who can use various software to achieve desired outcomes, including ZBrush, Houdini, Maya, Substance Painter, Meshmixer, Fusion 360, or Photoshop. Candidates must submit a portfolio of past work for consideration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sculpting high-resolution 3D models in ZBrush, Blender, Maya, or Houdini.
  • Developing models into previsualizations using Keyshot, Substance Painter, and Photoshop.
  • Transforming product concepts into manufacturable designs using Meshmixer, Fusion 360, and other tools.
  • Reviewing and understanding project documents, including photo references, concepts, and digital assets.
  • Conceptualizing, developing, creating, and animating complex digital content.
  • Following company brand standards, guidelines, and art direction, with support from project management and other departments.
  • Discussing project stages and making necessary adjustments to meet company requirements and approval.
  • Collaborating effectively, taking direction and feedback from Art Directors, Management, and stakeholders.
  • Contributing to the creation and revision of quality standards for modeling and texturing within the company.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of human and non-human anatomy.
  • Ability to be detail-oriented and work efficiently in a production environment.
  • Strong self-organization and time management skills.
  • Friendly, helpful, and collaborative team player; self-motivated and results-oriented with a solid artistic vision.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate visually using traditional media.
  • Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Visual Effects, Computer Animation, or a related 3D field (preferred but not required).
  • Minimum 1 year of professional experience as an in-house 3D designer or visual effects artist in a marketing or creative environment, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable 3D sculpting ability with a broad portfolio.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling tools such as ZBrush, Houdini, Maya, and Substance Painter.
  • Proficiency in 2D art creation / manipulation packages such as Photoshop.
  • In-depth knowledge of 3D principles including modeling, rigging, texturing, lighting, and workflows.
  • A well-presented portfolio showcasing relevant work and process.
