APTS's Therapy Department Mission is to provide multi-modality therapeutic services which promote individual growth and holistic health. We understand that each student / client we work with is a unique individual influenced by his or her biochemistry, physiology, worldview, culture / s, given, assigned or chosen family, values and beliefs, and personal identity / ies. We strive to honor and respect the uniqueness of each person we service. Therapy intervention first begins with clearly understanding and identifying the student / clients' goals through data-based assessment and establishing an intervention plan based on those individualized goals.

Employee's duties include, but are not limited to :

Assesses students' communication skills (e.g. articulation, language, fluency, voice, etc.) for the purpose of determining their communication needs deficits and developing recommendations

Consultation with teachers, parents, other personnel for the purpose of providing requested information, developing plans for services and / or making recommendations

Implementation of individual, group and embedded speech and language intervention

Prepares documentation (e.g. evaluations, observations, progress notes, IEP goals, contacts with parents, teachers and outside professionals, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support, developing recommendations, and / or conveying information

Presents information on various topics related to area of professional expertise for the purpose of communicating information and gaining feedback on treatment issues

Researches resources and methods (i.e. intervention and treatment techniques, assessment tools and methods, community resources, etc.) for the purpose of determining appropriate approach for students' speech and language services

Qualifications :

Master's or Doctoral Degree in Speech-Language Pathology

Current license in speech pathology issued by the Virginia Board of Examiners for Audiology and Speech Pathology

1-year Speech Pathology experience
