Manager Trainee – Fabrication (Production Management Track)

About the Role

As a Manager Trainee , you will be mentored by an experienced Plant Manager and trained to lead production operations within a fabrication facility. Through hands-on assignments, rotational learning, and project involvement, you’ll gain the skills needed to manage people, processes, and performance in a manufacturing environment.

This is a structured development program designed to prepare you for a future leadership role within U.S. Pipe.

Location(s) : Rogers, MN | Phoenix, AZ | San Antonio, TX | Orlando, FL

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and actively participate in all safety programs and initiatives .
  • Rotate through each shop department (Flange, Fabrication, Paint, Shipping) and demonstrate operational understanding of all functions.
  • Partner with the Operational Excellence (OPEX) team to implement and sustain quality and process improvements.
  • Run, review, and interpret production and performance reports to support decision-making.
  • Support supervisors and managers in conducting monthly inventory and production planning.
  • Collaborate with plant leadership on employee relations, training, and performance management processes.

Qualifications

  • Ability and willingness to manage the plant you train in or relocate within the region upon completion of the program.
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent manufacturing leadership / work experience (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to motivate teams and drive results .
  • Effective communicator with solid analytical and problem-solving abilities .
  • Proven ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Working Conditions

    This role is based in a heavy industrial environment with regular exposure to :

  • Heat, cold, noise, vibration, oils, dust, and fumes.
  • Fabrication and shop floor operations.
  • When in production areas, employees are required to wear company-issued uniforms and all appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) , which may include steel-toed metatarsal shoes, safety glasses with foam lining, gloves, bump caps, hearing protection, and respiratory protection as needed.
