Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Planning and Research, the Planning and Research Analyst Sr. provides support
to the Title V grant serving in the capacity of internal evaluator for the Project. Responsible for developing the
Project’s assessment and evaluation tools, collecting, analyzing, interpreting, reporting and maintaining
institutional and Project data for use in key decision-making, strategic planning and in support of project
initiatives related to institutional effectiveness. This position serves as a subject matter expert in district
databases, data, and data reporting / visualization, and the position conducts complex evaluation and analysis
with broad college-level impact. The Planning and Research Analyst Sr. demonstrates a commitment to
service excellence, innovation, student success, integrity, and diversity in the performance of job duties.
Routinely leads project teams and / or regular staff on an ongoing basis and may supervise assigned exempt
and non-exempt regular staff.
Essential Functions
25% - Collaborates with project stakeholders on various aspects of the Project including conducting interviews,
focus groups, and surveys with program personnel and students, particularly Hispanic students to assess
programming experiences; works with stakeholders to implement evidence-based practices for advancing student
success, and uses analytics and evaluation to help advance institutional goals, improve quality and efficiency, and
strengthen student outcomes, particularly for underserved students; collaborates with the Title V External Evaluators
regarding both formative and summative assessments of each Project strategy geared toward increasing student
success.
25% - Collects, analyzes, interprets and maintains institutional data for use in key decision making, strategic
planning, project initiatives, and Title V grant; develops a predictive model for a more targeted approach to
maximize the impact of any actions; works with stakeholders to implement the predictive model; assess and
refine the predictive model.
25% - Undertakes program evaluation and qualitative research to improve services and support for students,
including analyzing the effectiveness of interventions.
15% - Responds to internal and external data and service requests inclusive of providing real-time data,
specialized Tableau dashboards for various departments; professional level support to committees and
initiatives that may include performing research, authoring documents, and making presentations.
5% - Engages with the college community to enhance data literacy and serves as a subject matter expert to
handle the most complex analysis and issues where considerable judgment, tact, discretion, and initiative are
required to resolve problems and make recommendations.
5% - Designs, develops and administers assessment and evaluation tools; performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in business statistics, educational studies, business administration or directly related field and four (4) years of professional-level experience in research and analysis that includes responsibility for coordinating projects and programs. Two years of senior-level or lead experience may be required for some assignments.
Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in business statistics, educational studies, business administration or directly related field and six (6) years of professional-level experience in research and analysis that includes responsibility for coordinating projects and programs. Two years of senior-level or lead experience may be required for some assignments.
High School Diploma or GED and eight (8) years of professional-level experience in research and analysis that includes responsibility for coordinating projects and programs. Two years of senior-level or lead experience may be required for some assignments.
Desired Qualifications
1. Experience with advanced analytics techniques including forecasting and predictive modeling.
2. Experience extracting complex data sets from relational databases using queries written in SQL.
3. Experience using Tableau Desktop in a Tableau Server environment.
4. Experience conducting statistical analysis with SPSS, SAS, R or other statistical software.
5. Experience using Qualtrics survey platform to administer large surveys.
6. Experience presenting complex research results to a diverse audience, either with written reports or verbal presentations.
7. Experience evaluating and assessing US Department of Education (or similar funding source) grant outcomes.
8. Experience with survey methodology.
