Park Ranger I

Location : Sand Hollow State Park, near Hurricane, UT  Work Schedule : Full-time, including weekends, evenings, and occasional holidays

Join our team at Sand Hollow State Park, where you'll play a key role in managing events, assisting with camping and retail services, and supporting a dynamic team. This position offers a wide variety of responsibilities, from coordinating with seasonal staff and volunteers to writing special use permits for weddings and photography. Responsibilities

  • Monitor activities and resources at the park, waterways, trails, and areas of responsibility.
  • Host visitors, coordinate group activities, and provide visitor services to enhance their experience.
  • Develop and present marketing, educational, and interpretive materials.
  • Assist law enforcement personnel and participate in search and rescue activities.
  • Develop and maintain schedules for camp host volunteers, gate staff, and seasonal employees to ensure year-round operational coverage.
  • Coordinate with staff and volunteers to address scheduling conflicts and provide timely adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of staff availability, shift changes, and time-off requests.
  • Assist with hiring and training park employees.
  • Providing information and assistance to park visitors : answering questions, giving directions, providing information about park rules and regulations, and resolving visitor concerns.
  • Conducting patrols : patrolling park areas to ensure visitor safety, monitor resource conditions, and enforce park rules.
  • Participating in administrative tasks : preparing reports, maintaining records, and performing other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A strong passion for outdoor activities and the environment, with a commitment to enhancing visitors' experiences.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with a diverse range of people.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring smooth operations during events and daily park activities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong background in customer service and visitor relations
  • Experience in an office environment or working with a team.
  • Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree in park management, recreation, hospitality, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in event coordination, customer service, or park operations.
  • Flexibility and a positive attitude in dealing with diverse situations and people of different backgrounds.
  • Supplemental Information

  • This position requires weekend and evening hours, particularly during peak seasons and for events.
  • The role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions and managing large crowds during the summer months.
